Paris is one of the truly amazing cities in the world. I’m sure many of us dream of visiting the beautiful places there. When I think of Paris, there is one monument that really stands out – the Eiffel Tower itself! But did you know that the Eiffel Tower wasn’t always situated where it is now? And there is a lot more to be seen! Let me take you on a trip to discover Paris’s very own ‘traveling tower’ and other very popular monuments in Paris.
The Eiffel Tower is usually referred to as a ‘traveling tower’ because it’s got a really long history. It wasn’t always planned to stay fixed in one spot. It was created for the 1889 World’s Fair so as to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. Can you picture the excitement of people when they first saw it? Initially some Parisians even didn’t like the idea itself! However now it’s a symbol of the city itself.
Over the years it was intended to be taken down after the fair. That would have been a truly significant loss for Paris. I really can’t envision a Paris without the Eiffel Tower. Luckily people realized its importance and it remained standing. And right now it is one of the most visited monuments in the world itself! If you ever get the chance to visit you’ll really see why it’s that special.
Popular Monuments in Paris
Paris is home to numerous truly amazing monuments. I’ve had the opportunity to see a few of them myself and each one really stands out on its own! Besides the Eiffel Tower there is the Notre-Dame Cathedral. The first time I saw it, I was just astounded by its height and beauty itself. The church has an incredible history itself. It’s known worldwide for its impressive architecture and some of the world’s most beautiful sculptures. I’ve spent several hours gazing at every last detail.
Another extremely famous landmark is the Arc de Triomphe itself. Each time I pass by, I’m constantly amazed at its sheer size and beauty itself. The Arc was built to honor those who fought for France itself. When I’m under it, I can almost feel the history itself surrounding me. And the view from the top? Really something else! You can see the entire city and also spot the Eiffel Tower itself in the distance.
The Louvre Museum is also a true must-see location. I can still vividly remember the first time I stepped through its really grand entrance. Inside I saw some of the most famous works of art such as the Mona Lisa. This is a place where art lovers like myself really can get lost in time itself. If you are into history and art itself, the Louvre is a really a must-see location in Paris itself.
I think one of the most interesting facts about the Eiffel Tower itself is that it was almost relocated itself! When it was first put together, a few individuals didn’t think it belonged in Paris itself. They proposed moving it somewhere else or even tearing it down itself. But the tower was made so solidly itself that it couldn’t be moved itself. Can you imagine the Eiffel Tower being located anywhere else? It’s really difficult to picture itself.
When the Eiffel Tower was first made itself, it was 324 meters tall. Back then that was a massive structure itself! It really stood out from the rest of Paris itself. Loads of people thought it was unattractive and some even wanted to remove it itself. But I am so happy they didn’t! If it had been moved, we wouldn’t be able to really appreciate it like we do right now itself. It is a symbol of Paris itself and it is a little hard to imagine the city without it itself.
Actually relocating the Eiffel Tower was an idea itself that was really discussed itself, but now it seems like something that would be utterly impossible to do itself. With all the visitors coming from everywhere to see it, I really can’t picture just how chaotic things would become if the tower wasn’t where it is now itself.
The Eiffel Tower
So, what makes the Eiffel Tower itself so special? Well, for one, it’s simply massive itself! Every time I visit there, I am constantly amazed by its sheer size itself. Standing right under it and looking up at the really intricate ironwork, I feel so tiny myself but in a good way itself.
